Subaru, long known for its all-wheel drive vehicles like the Impreza and Outback, has announced pricing of the XV Crosstrek Hybrid, the company's first production hybrid vehicle. The XV Crosstrek Hybrid will be built on the same platform as the base model, offering the same Subaru versatility with improved fuel economy.
The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid is set to be one of the most affordable hybrids in the market, with a starting price of just $25,995.
“The XV Crosstrek model has been an instant hit since going on sale in September 2012, selling approximately 45,000 units in its first year and showing there is a strong market for a compact CUV that provides strong looks, safety, AWD capability and good fuel economy.” said Thomas J. Doll, president and CEO of Subaru of America, Inc. “The XV Crosstrek Hybrid will combine those proven Subaru attributes with hybrid technology and will appeal still further to ecologically-minded consumers.”
All Crosstrek Hybrids will have a 2 liter boxer engine. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) will house the electric motor, which produces 13.4 horsepower and 48 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy figures have not been released, but will undoubtedly improve on the 25 mpg city/33 mpg highway rating of the standard Crosstrek.
Subaru is adamant that the Crosstrek Hybrid still has the same mixed-terrain capability as the standard model. The hybrid system is connected to the same Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a proven system that has been developed through many different Subaru vehicles. The AWD system can split torque on demand, improving performance on and off the roads. The XV Crosstrek, even with its low crossover body style, has 8.7 inches of ground clearance. It also has independent suspension on all four corners, which greatly improves road handling.http://bestrans4u.blogspot.com/
